The Game/The Truth

I met him on Raya, in the fall of 2020. No. I met him at a super cheesy party in the Hollywood hills in the mid 2000s, at the height of his “The Game” fame. Neil Strauss. When we re-met on Raya, I acted as if this was the first time we’d ever encountered one another. Always pretending, always putting on an act. Of course, this is probably normal behavior when coming into contact with someone well known. They meet so many people, I wouldn’t expect one to remember little old me. If he did, he didn’t say.

I remembered him being the only non slime-ball at the creep-fest I was teetering around at, in my raccoon eyes and mini skirt. Coked up and looking for the next thing that might fill the endless void that existed within me, I somehow got wrapped up in a genuinely interesting conversation with him. The contents of the conversation left me long ago, but the sentiment remained. He left the impression of being a legitimately cool person.
