Every time it rains, I think of him…

Most bones are covered by a thin layer of tissue containing nerve endings. When the barometric pressure drops, indicating a storm rolling in, bones expand, ever so slightly, stretching the tissue layer. If it has been damaged, it is more likely to be sensitive to this subtle change, causing pain. This is why your broken bones hurt when it rains.

It was instant chemistry. No, it was biochemistry.

I leaned against the wall, sweaty, glitter and mascara running down my face, bathed in the yellow light that hung over the back door to Three Clubs. Just off stage, I was smoking my usual “I just got off-stage cigarette”. He showed up late and missed my set. He had come to meet my friend. An actor, who leaned against the wall and smoked with me.

James was just my type. Pouty lips, British, and in a band with a song that everyone knew. I didn’t know it then, but I was exactly his type too. Dark hair, deer in headlights.
